Vientiane, Laos
Today was another lazy day in Laos (I had such grand plans for this country: dirt biking, mountain climbing, tubing . . . but illness combined with poor planning and shitty internet connection has destroyed all my plans); I would’ve liked to have done the cooking class today, but thanks to the “piss poor” internet connection in my hotel, I missed my opportunity; also, yesterday i had seen everything that was worth seeing in this city, so I have left myself with nil to do today; as a result, I spent most of my time in my room, typing out journal entries for the past few days that I neglected to type before; I did have some extra dark chocolate (72%) and a bottle of Chateau des Campets Languedoc wine this evening that had spicy, vegetal, and cherry flavors, which made me quite content. Eventually, I left the room to grab some dinner (from the Pizza Company again), I had a medium (eight inches) pizza with sausage slices, ham, and pineapple; I also bought another bottle of wine, a bottle of Tavernello Sangiovese wine (it tasted of generic red fruits and freshly cut grass – also vegetal). During the night I watched most of ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ on one of the movie channels here, and (as I anticipated) it was terrible – another “science fiction” film with poor physics in it (why can’t we have another intelligent film like ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’?); the story was also garbage. I then went to sleep hoping I would wake up early enough to make my flight to Dhaka.
